Hi there CraftyStealers!
On the fourth Friday of every month, we get to feature one of you as our guest designer. I love having new faces to introduce, and I also love welcoming back old friends. This month, our designer is a familiar face – Carol Sheetz. Carol has shared her talents with us previously as a guest designer. She loves all kinds of papercrafts and her work has been published in print and featured all over the web (most recently she was featured on the Simple Stories blog). She also updates her blog, Crazy for Crafting, with all of her latest projects.
Carol took today’s steal, the Studio Calico Abroad Collection kit, and played with new techniques to make some fabulous layouts and a card to share with all of you.
Here’s a better view of the gorgeous papers that she was working with…
Here’s Carol’s first layout, Millenium. She wanted to showcase the patterned paper with the building pattern, so she had the very creative idea to turn it into a skyline!
For this next layout, Me and My Girls, she layered the papers”to show these papers aren’t just for travel.” She also cut out the filmstrip and cleverly used the pre-made garland as a mask.
This third layout, The Bean, was all about the Mister Huey’s mists that come with this collection. She did a reverse image title using some Tim Holtz mask letters and the Passport Mister Huey’s mist. She splattered a bit of the Sunset mist on the the lower part of the page. Carol was unafraid to draw outside the lines – she lined up three tags (since she says she loves tags) and just journaled right across the bunch of them! I love a crafter who isn’t afraid to take a risk or two – the results can be amazing, can’t they?
Thank you, Carol, for being such a fantastic guest designer for CraftySteals. We were thrilled to have you share your creative talents with all us. Ladies, don’t forget to visit Carol at Crazy for Crafting to see more of her design work and what new creations she has come up with.
Have a FABULOUS Friday!
