Good morning CraftyStealers!
Have you peeked at today’s steal yet? The Amy Tan Sketchbook collection is chock full of color and just plain fun! The papers are hued with BRIGHT pinks, blues, yellows and oranges that have a very cool watercolor effect to them. The patterns are fabulous too – everyone will find a favorite in this collection with things like flowers, cameras, lace, frames and even polka dots. Today at Crafty Steals, you can get your fill of Amy Tangerine with a kit of 12 x 12 papers, assorted stickers and embellishments and of course my love, Thickers!
You can also snag the 6 x 6 paper pad…
and the rubber stamps to add on to your kit.
Now, usually on Wednesdays I show you some examples and tutorials from around the web. Well, today’s bit of inspiration comes from a different source – Guest Designer Carol Sheetz. Carol is a creator of all kinds of paper crafts, and shows off all of her work on her blog, Crazy for Crafting.
We sent Carol the Amy Tan Sketchbook collection, and somehow, between her family and working a full-time job she managed to put together some AWESOME layouts and cards in just a couple of weeks!
Her first layout “Sun Kissed Cheeks” uses just the 6 x 6 papers. She made a grid of squares and then stitched over the entire grid. Isn’t it great? Carol also did a lot of stamping on the layouts – creating the border on the left, stamping across the top, in the orange square and all around the photo. In her own words, “OMG, the stamps are FABULOUS! [They] stamp wonderfully!”
On her “Oh Hello” card she got thrifty and creative with her use of the background from the canvas stickers packaging. Since the packaging wasn’t quite wide enough for card front, Carol added a strip on the right side to fill up the space.
For the “Hi” card, since she used a busy pattern, she matted the Thickers and then stiched it on, also adding an embellishment. In Carol’s words “It doesn’t get any easier than that!”
Last, but definitely not least, Carol said this “High School” layout is her favorite – and I’ll let you tell her why. “Love these papers! Love that the page border is already done! Love layering the colors!” She cut a few clouds, added some more borders, did some stamping and used some of the canvas stickers and wood grain Thickers to finish it off.
Thanks Carol, for coming up with inspiration for today’s Amy Tan Sketchbook steal! Everyone else, be sure to leave Carol some love and visit her blog to see what new things she comes up with.
